Skopje, 9 December 2025 (MIA) – At today’s session, the Council of Public Prosecutors approved the resignation of Mustafa Hajrullahi, former head of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje, after he submitted a request to leave the post.
Hajrullahi was suspended after the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Shtip filed an indictment for five counts of mistreatment in performing a duty as well as misuse of official position and authorization based on allegations that between September 2023 and October 2024 he used his hierarch superiority to threaten against five female employee as well as to insult them and forbid them from communicating with each other or with other employees and attempting to force them to sign statements claiming they had been manipulated.
Hajrullahi categorically rejected all charges, claiming the case is biased and politically staged with the aim of removing him, linking the proceedings to his actions regarding the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPO) bonus payments.
The Council is also set to discuss electing a new President and establishing a Commission to implement the 2025–2028 communication and transparency strategy.
