Cost of living, retail prices go up in July: statistics
Skopje, 8 August 2022 (MIA) – The cost of living in July 2022 increased by 1.9% compared to June 2022, while retail prices went up 2.5% in the same period. Compared to July 2021, the cost of living in July 2022 jumped by 16%, while retail prices by 14%, according to the latest figures released on Monday by the State Statistical Office.
An increase in the Consumer Price Index in July 2022, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in bread and cereals by 4.8%, cheese and curd by 4.5%, milk by 3.6%, fresh or chilled fruit by 2.9%, wine by 2.5%, meat by 1.8%, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery, spirits by 1.1%, food products n.e.c by 1.0%, mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices by 0.4%, coffee and tea and cocoa by 0.2%.
In July, there was also an increase in the indies of passenger transport by air by 36.5%, package holidays by 11.3%, electricity by 9.9%, repair of household appliances by 8.8%, accommodation services by 5.9%, repair of audio-visual, photographic and information processing equipment by 5.0%, miscellaneous printed matter by 3.3%, restaurants, cafes and the like by 3.1%, motor cycles by 2.7%, hair dressing salons and personal grooming establishments by 2.6%, electric appliances for personal care by 2.5%, domestic services and household services by 2.4%, bicycles by 2.3%, liquid fuels for household, solid fuels by 1.8%, small tools and miscellaneous accessories by 1.6%, services for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling by 1.5%, non-durable household goods, pets and related products by 1.4%, repair of furniture, furnishings and floor coverings by 1.2%, gas for household by 1.1%, spare parts and accessories for personal transport equipment by 1.0%, other personal effects by 0.8%, major electric household appliances, cultural services by 0.7%, materials for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling, small electric household appliances, other services in respect of personal transport equipment by 0.5%, furniture and furnishings, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, photographic and cinematographic equipment and optical instruments, recording media, stationery and drawing materials, jewellery, clocks and watches by 0.4%, garments, other articles of clothing and clothing accessories, passenger transport by road, other appliances, articles and products for personal care by 0.3%, repair and hire of footwear, glassware, tableware and household utensils, paramedical services, other services n.e.c by 0.2%.
A decrease in the Consumer Price index in July 2022, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in fresh or chilled vegetables other than potatoes and other tubers by 6.4%, fish and seafood by 1.8% and oils and fats by 1.6%.
In July, there was also a decrease of indices of actual rentals paid by tenants by 2.7%, other medical products by 1.7%, education not definable by level by 1.1%, motor cars by 0.9%, carpets and other floor coverings, fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment, equipment for the reception, recording and reproduction of sound and picture by 0.8%, pharmaceutical products, gardens, plants and flowers by 0.4%.
