Condition of Macedonian burn patients in Bulgaria remains critical

Skopje, 18 March 2025 (MIA) — The condition of the injured in the Kochani nightclub fire receiving medical care in Bulgaria remains critical, the Ministry of Health announced on its Facebook page, BTA said Tuesday.

 

According to the Bulgarian news agency, all eight patients hospitalized at Pirogov Emergency Hospital are on mechanical ventilation and remain in intensive care.

 

Citing information from Varna's Naval Medical Academy, BTA said all three patients being treated were in serious condition. Two are on mechanical ventilation, and one is receiving oxygen through an air-entrainment mask.

 

The condition of those at St. George University Hospital in Plovdiv remains serious but stable. They are in the intensive care unit, the Bulgarian health authorities said.

 

Receiving medical treatment in Bulgaria are 14 of the people injured in the Kochani nightclub fire. The fire, which broke out during a concert, killed 59 and injured more than 150 people.

 

Earlier in the day, Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliana Iotova extended their condolences. Also, the Bulgarian government declared March 18 a national day of mourning over the Kochani tragedy. mr/
