Composer Ljupcho Konstantinov recipient of 'October 11' award

Skopje, 11 October 2023 (MIA) – The composer Ljupcho Konstantinov was presented with "October 11" life achievement award in the field of arts and culture for 2023 at a ceremony in Parliament on Wednesday on the occasion of the National Uprising Day October 11.

The head of the board for the “October 11” state award, Sinolichka Trpkova said that every tree has a root and every nation has a root, and today's award is a symbol of our freedom for which we have to fight every day, but also a symbol of our origin.

“From the bottom of my heart, I want this award to continue to value the achievements of deserving and outstanding individuals, citizens of Macedonia, achievements that are proof that we are free people in our free country that allows us to create in all areas of our common life, in culture, art and education,” said Trpkova.

“I regard the "October 11" award as a reflection of respect and a gracious gift from the country to which I belong and a reflection of its power and wisdom. It wraps up my career so far in the best possible way and obliges me to be even better in the future,” Konstantinov said.

Ljupco Konstantinov was born on December 11, 1946 in Ohrid. Has finished high musical school in Bitola and studied on Musical Academy in Belgrade. He is the music author for the films Happy New Year ’49 (1986), Tattoo (1991), Macedonian Saga (1993), Angels of Waste (1995), Across the Lake (1997), Time, Life (1999), etc.

He composed music in feature films, documentaries and animated films, in numerous television films, series and dramas, as well as in over 60 theatre performances. Furthermore, he is the winner of several awards and recognitions.

The award is given for outstanding achievements in the fields of science, art, economy, and other areas of public interest.
