Skopje, 27 December 2023 (MIA) – The Parliamentary Committee on Election and Appointment Issues is to hold a session Wednesday during which it is expected to formalize the proposal – the decision on the appointment of a State Election Commission (SEC) member, in accordance with the suggestions put forth by political parties.

Abdush Demiri, supported by coalition of the opposition parties of ethnic Albanians - European Alliance for Change, and Zulfi Adili, endorsed by the European Democratic Party of Arijanit Hodxha, are candidates for a member of the State Election Commission.

After the confirmation of the candidate, a member of the State Election Commission is elected by the Parliament, with a two-thirds majority vote.

The procedure is taking place after Krenar Lloga left the SEC post and was elected Justice Minister.

The SEC's candidate list included Berat Dauti, Abdush Demiri, Robert Trajkovski, Zulfi Adili and Samir Rakipi.
