Colonna: North Macedonia and Albania’s European path a positive outcome, achievement of French Presidency
Athens, 6 September 2022 (MIA) – Greek and French Foreign Ministers, Nikos Dendias and Catherine Colonna, expressed support for the Western Balkans’ EU perspective at their meeting in Athens on Tuesday, and FM Colonna also mentioned North Macedonia and Albania’s European path as a positive outcome of the French Presidency, MIA’s Athens correspondent reports.
“Talks also tackled the Western Balkans, support for the European perspective of North Macedonia and Albania, one of the positive outcomes and achievements of the French Presidency,” Colonna said, also welcoming the Belgrade-Pristina agreement on free movement.
Greek FM Dendias stressed that Greece and France support enlargement of the European Union with countries “that accept the same principles and values”.
“In this context, we discussed about the Western Balkans. I underlined that European integration represents a path towards consolidating security, stability and prosperity in the region. Greece will continue to support this process and actively contribute,” said Dendias.
In their statements after the meeting the Foreign Ministers focused on the situation in Ukraine, as well as the Greek-Turkish relations, and Colonna expressed France’s full support to Greece in case of escalation of tensions with Turkey.
