CMC: Wildfires in Saraj, Novaci and Kavadarci still active
Skopje, 13 August 2021 (MIA) – The Crisis Management Center (CMC) spokesperson Nadica Vchkova told the news conference on Friday afternoon that the fire near Saraj, Skopje region is still active and wildfires broke out in municipalities of Novaci and Kavadarci, as well as over the village of Crvena Voda towards the mountain lodge Kitka. Two army helicopters put out the fire near the village of Raovikj in the municipality of Saraj, but this afternoon around 3 pm it reignited at three areas, after which the Territorial Firefighting Unit of the City of Skopje was notified. A new fire started at around 2 pm in the area of the villages of Grumazi and Iveni in the municipality of Novaci, where dry grass is burning, and another fire broke out Friday morning over the village of Crvena Voda towards the mountain lodge Kitka. “The fire between Barovo and Veshija villages in the municipality of Demir Kapija is still active and has spread to the Vitachevo plateau towards the village of Stragovo in the municipality of Kavadarci. The fire, which has spread in the forest in the village of Barovo, in Baldovec area, is to be extinguished from the air due to inaccessible terrain,” Vchkova said, adding that firefighting teams from Kavadarci and Negotino are also involved in battling the fire.
