CMC: Two wildfires still active, others under control
Skopje, 12 August 2021 (MIA) – The Crisis Management Center (CMC) spokesperson Nadica Vchkova told the news conference on Thursday afternoon that a fire between Barovo and Veshija villages broke out at an inaccessible area is being put out by firefighters from Negotino and Kavadarci, a crew from Demir Kapija Forest Services as well as civilian volunteers.
At the request of the mayor of the municipality of Demir Kapija, two army helicopters joined firefighting efforts, CMC’s spokesperson added.
At the news conference on situation with active wildfire in the country until 5 pm, Vchkova briefed that the fire near the village Raovikj, in Saraj is still active.
She also added that the wildfire near the village of Divlje in Petrovec, Skopje region is brought under control.
The fire that broke out early on Thursday in Gradishche area, near Vladmirovo village was extinguished. Maleshevo Forest Services crews are there monitoring the situation so that the fire doesn’t start back up again during the night.
The fire that broke out at the city landfill in Vinica, is localized but is not brought under control. During the day, employees of public enterprise “Solidarity” from Vinica are covering the landfill with soil, Vchkova said.
The fire that started between the villages of Matejche and Vishtica, where dry grass and bushes are burning, has been brought under control. Three firefighters intervene with one fire truck.
Three firefighters with a fire truck, four police officers as well as 30 local residents are involved in extinguishing the fire, which broke out in the area of the village Otlja, towards the village Matejche, CMC’s spokesperson added.
