Skopje, 11 August 2024 (MIA) - Out of a total of 42 wildfires reported in the country on Saturday, six are currently still active, five have been contained, and 31 have been extinguished, the Crisis Management Center (CMC) said Sunday.

Fires are active in Makedonski Brod municipality, Ohrid municipality, Novaci municipality, Kichevo municipality, and Chashka municipality.

According to the CMC, two wildfires are active in Makedonski Brod municipality, one is in the villages of Tazhevo and Breznica and Jasen, where pine forest is burning, and the other one is in the village of Slatina where mixed forest is burning.

In Ohrid, the fire is burning on Galichica Mountain and is headed towards Magaro and Stenje in Resen municipality. Low vegetation is burning in this area.

In Novaci, the fire is burning near the villages Polog, Skochivir, Grumazi, Slivnica, Tapevci and Gnilezh, affecting low vegetation.

In Kichevo, the fire is near the village of Pateec, where pine and beech forest is burning.

Mixed vegetation is burning in Chashka municipality, near the villages of Oreshe and Papradishte.

The wildfire on Ilinska Mountain on the territory of Demir Hisar and Ohrid municipalities, the fire in Plasnica municipality near the villages of Plasnica and Latovo, the fire in Kichevo municipality near the villages Bigot Dolenci and Chelopeci, the fire at the Delchevo landfill and the fire in Shtip municipality near Treshtenska Skala have been contained.
