Skopje, 9 September 2025 (MIA) -- The garbage fire that has been burning for over a week at the Vardarishte illegal landfill in Gazi Baba is under control, the Crisis Management Center said in a press release.

As of Tuesday noon, four out of the 10 wildfires reported nationwide have been extinguished and two are under control -- the Vardarishte landfill fire as well as an oak and beech forest fire near the Berovo village of Rusinovo.

Still burning are an oak forest fire in Lipkovo's village of Nikushtak and brush fires in Kichevo's village of Greshnica, in the Struga village of Labunishta and in the Struga village of Tatesh. 

Firefighters extinguished two brush fires, one in Saraj's Krushopek and one in Studenichani's Varvara and Drachevica. They also put out two garbage fires, one in Shuto Orizari and one at the Delchevo landfill, the CMC said. mr/
