Skopje, 24 March 2025 (MIA) - The Ministry of Interior has informed all citizens and users of drones that the Civil Aviation Agency has issued a ban on drone operations in the territory of the City of Skopje, more specifically on Macedonia Square, “Dimitrie Chupovski” street, boulevard “11 October” in front of the Parliament building, “Filip II” street, boulevard “Goce Delchev” to boulevard “Ilinden” and in front of the building of the Government of North Macedonia.
“Unauthorized and uncoordinated operation of these aircraft is not only a risk to the air traffic but can also have a serious impact on the life and property of third parties on the ground. Operating drones in prohibited zones can be sanctioned in line with the Law on Aviation,” the MoI said in a press release.
The Ministry also urged citizens to hold peaceful protests and respect instructions by police officers “aimed at securing peace, safety and security of all citizens in the country”.
The ban comes ahead of a protest in the capital set to be held in the wake of the fire at the "Pulse" nightclub in Kochani on March 16 which killed 59 people and left over 150 injured.
