Skopje, 30 September 2024 (MIA) — The national Power Plants enterprise and the Power Plants' District Heating engineers have started installing new heating pipes under Skopje's Belasica Bridge, according to a press release from the state-owned company.

The heating pipes will be installed over the next couple of months so they can be used in the upcoming winter heating season, the release says.

"The new Power Plants and Power Plants District Heating management rose to the challenge of taking urgent steps to overcome the problems that delayed the pipe installation, caused by the previous management teams' exceptional incompetence or apathy," the new director of Power Plants District Heating Petar Miletikj is quoted as saying in the release.

Miletikj attended the start of the installation works.

According to the press release, until the new pipes are installed, heat will be distributed to residents via the "A" primary heating network, like last winter.

"This will fully meet the needs of heating consumers even in cases of low outdoor temperatures," the Power Plants release says. mr/
