Skopje, 30 October 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said the Government decided Sunday to secure cheaper electricity for companies manufacturing basic food products, primary and secondary schools, as well as public enterprises in the water supply sector. These companies will receive electricity at the price of EUR 80 per MWh, with the Government expecting this decision to impact the stabilization of the final price of basic food products. “The Government decision refers to companies manufacturing basic food products such as cooking oil, bread and baking products, flour, milk and dairy products, meat and poultry industry. The decision will ensure their predictability, stable and cheaper electricity that will ultimately impact the stabilization of prices of their final products,” PM Kovachevski told a press conference. The PM said the products should drop by at least 10 percent as a result of the decision. As of December 1, primary and secondary schools and public utility enterprises will have the option of concluding an agreement with ESM Sales over the procurement of electricity at the price of EUR 95 per MWh. “Amid the difficult winter, we are helping schools and their uninterrupted electricity supply. This option is also available to public enterprises in the water supply sector, thus securing stable water supply and waste water treatment,” added Kovachevski. Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi said the decision will impact about 200 companies, with the aim of reducing prices of basic food products and preventing an increase of the water price.
