Skopje, 22 March 2023 (MIA) - The Central Registry has deleted Bulgarian culture center "Ivan Mihajlov" in Bitola, in line with the decision of Justice Minister Krenar Lloga after a negative opinion of the Commission on Use of Names. The Central Registry section on the entity's legal status now reads "deleted".
The Commission said the naming of the association after Ivan Mihajlov constitutes an insult and provocation of the national feelings of the Macedonian people, considering his public and continued denial of the Macedonian identity, language and culture, while glorification and celebration of his image and work causes intolerance and hatred in the Macedonian society.
According to the Law on Associations and Foundations, which was adopted in November 2022, the Bulgarian clubs are obliged to request a re-registration, otherwise they are at threat of being closed down.
