Central bank governor expects inflation rate lower than 3%

Central bank governor expects inflation rate lower than 3%

Skopje, 15 September 2025 (MIA) -- Inflation will keep falling over the next two years until it hovers around 2%, National Bank Governor Trajko Slaveski said Monday citing the central bank's projections.

"Our expectations are that the inflation rate will continue its downward trend," Slaveski said.

"Of course, this does not depend solely on the National Bank's instruments but also on fiscal policy, which is currently aimed at stabilizing inflation.

"We expect and wish for an inflation rate lower than 3% in the future, and in the medium term, in two years' time, for it to fall back to normal historical levels, or an inflation rate of about 2%, like the one in the eurozone," he said.

According to official statistics, inflation in August 2025 rose 0.2% from the previous month, or 4.4% from August 2024. mr/
