Catholics in North Macedonia celebrate Christmas
Skopje, 25 December 2020 (MIA) – Worshipers who celebrate Christmas according to the Gregorian calendar today attended a Christmas Eve mass, held at the Skopje Catholic Cathedral on Friday evening.
The mass, led by Bishop of Skopje and Strumica-Skopje Exarch Kiro Stojanov, took place in line with Covid-19 health protection protocols with the head of the Commission for Relations between Religious Communities, Darijan Sotirovski, and a small number of clergy members and worshipers in attendance.
The Skopje Bishop congratulated Christmas and read the Christmas sermon.
Christmas according to Gregorian calendar is also celebrated by the Greek, Bulgarian, Romanian, Ukrainian and Georgian Orthodox Churches, while the Macedonian, Serbian and Russian Orthodox Churches, the Jerusalem Patriarchate, as well as monasteries at Mount Athos celebrate Christmas according to the Julian calendar on January 7.
