Carovska: Ministry of Education and Science committed to improving education
Skopje, 20 November 2021 (MIA) — The Ministry of Education and Science is committed to creating a better public education system, said Minister of Education and Science Mila Carovska in a video address on 2021 Children's Day, Nov. 20.
“Today, as we celebrate World Children's Day,” Minister Carovska said, “I would like to mention that we have one and only goal: to provide our children with education that will help them grow into citizens using their knowledge for personal and social development.”
Carovska added that education reforms were implemented with that goal in mind and new curricula were aimed at developing students’ critical thinking and democratic values, respect for human rights, tolerance, multiculturalism and equality.
The education minister also said tackling the pandemic was challenging but the Ministry of Education and Science was doing its best to deal with it and respond to parents' demands for schools to help protect their children's mental health.
"We are making every effort to keep schools open and safe," Carovska said.
She stressed she was happy that the reform process had started in elementary education, speeding up the modernization of the country’s schools.
“We are listening to the voice of children and we are trying to build an inclusive and quality education system. We are investing in young people and in science to create a solid foundation for a society that cares for all and a society of economic growth and development,” Carovska said, adding: “Happy Nov. 20, World Children's Day. Stay healthy and safe in schools and do not give up on your dreams!" mr/
