Can’t negotiate something that’s already been agreed, says Bulgarian Ambassador

Skopje, 26 August 2024 (MIA) - Bulgarian Ambassador Angel Angelov, whose term ends on Friday, said Monday he hopes Bulgaria will get a new government after the October 27 elections, paving the way for an intensive dialogue between the two countries.

“We will have elections now, they will be held on October 27, and we hope that we will get a government with which we will be able to begin an intensive dialogue. Of course, not negotiations, because we can’t negotiate something that has already been agreed. That which has been agreed must also begin to be realized. We can’t change geography, and we will remain neighbors. So, we need to have intensive communications, including the historical committee,” Angelov said.

Earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the composition of the Joint Multidisciplinary Expert Committee on Historical and Educational Issues will soon be changed, since, according to Mickoski, it did not safeguard the national interests of the Macedonian people.
