Call for allocation of funds for environment protection projects published

Skopje, 8 April 2025 (MIA) – A total of 229 million denars are at disposal for environment protection projects in 2025, announced First Deputy Prime Minister and Environment Minister, Izet Mexhiti, at a news conference involving a public call for allocation of funds from this year’s program on investing in the environment.

The program, he said, aims at encouraging and financing projects and activities for protection, advancement and sustainable management of the environment, seen as one of the key factors for public health

Also, Mexhiti called on the municipalities, municipal organizations, civil associations and educational institutions to join the process.

A total of 229 million denars the Environment Ministry will distribute this year, including 100 million denars for construction and technical paperwork for sewage systems and wastewater treatment systems;100 million denars for construction and upgrading of water supply systems; 10 million denars for educational, research and development projects, and 19 million denars for public awareness raising activities and trainings related to the protection of the environment, said the Minister.

“The process to elect and distribute the funds will be implemented in a transparent and objective manner with clearly defined criteria… This call is a genuine opportunity for those with vision, ideas and capacity to contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable environment,” Minister Mexhiti told the news conference.
