Bytyqi: Rehabilitation of Skopje Central Post Office building to be supported by European funds
Skopje, 20 November 2023 (MIA) – Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi said Monday that the rehabilitation of the building of the Skopje Central Post Office will be supported by European funds. He expects submitting a proposal to the Government soon.
In response to a journalist's question after today's opening of the extension facility of the kindergarten in the municipality of Kisela Voda, together with the Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Jovanka Trenchevska, regarding the EU Ambassador David Geer's appeals to prevent the building from erosion, Bytyqi commented that a working group has been set up.
"The EU Ambassador is urging us to move a bit faster. Work is in progress; there is a working group between the Ministry of Culture and 'Macedonian Post' to explore the possibility of another institution investing in part of the Central Post Office building. I think we are in the last phase of eliminating legal deficiencies that have hindered intervention until now. Soon, a proposal to the Government will be submitted, and the investment will commence. Moreover, it will be realised through European funds, as they simply want to help us preserve our cultural heritage," Bytyqi added.
