Bytyqi: Price hikes by certain companies are immoral, institutions to respond adequately soon
Gostivar, 3 June 2022 (MIA) – Companies that have increased the prices over the past few days will face an adequate response from state institutions, because their behavior in the past three days is incorrect and immoral, Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi said in response to a reporter’s question about introducing anti-crisis measures. “We’re closely monitoring developments on the free market over the past few days. Certain companies behave incorrectly, unethically and immorally in terms of price hikes. Institutions will soon give an adequate response. We cannot accept that in 24 hours a price can go up by 20 percent when the production price cannot go up by 20 percent in 24 hours. I believe this is just a manipulation that they do to our citizens, and hence inspection services certainly need to respond adequately. I expect a report from the inspection services soon, including adequate measures,” Bytyqi said during Friday’s opening of an Employment and Career Fair at the Youth Resource Center “ICan” in Gostivar. As regards anti-crisis measures, the Deputy PM pointed out that the Government has provided funds with the budget revision in the amount of about EUR 73 million. “We’re already making all the analyses. I believe the anti-crisis measures will be adopted as soon as the budget revision is passed, but they won’t be all-encompassing measures. The measures must be targeted to specific target groups that are most vulnerable and companies that are most vulnerable,” said Bytyqi.
