Skopje, 8 May 2023 (MIA) - Liberalization of the labor market is necessary for the growing ICT industry, concurred Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi and MASIT ICT Chamber of Commerce at a working meeting on Monday. 

Interlocutors discussed the issue of labor shortage on the labor market, a situation that neither bypasses the ICT industry segment, which is why the representatives of MASIT stressed the need for liberalization of the labor market, the Government said in a press release. 

"We are facing structural changes that require adapting the skills of citizens to the needs of the labor market. Only in this way can an economy be built that will follow the digital opportunities ahead and thus grow. The development of digital skills among the economically active population represents a good basis for further growth of the ICT industry, but additional development potentials will also be provided with the liberalization of the labor market," Bytyqi said. 

Participants in the meeting briefed the Deputy PM on several initiatives and processes of informal education carried out by the ICT sector in the country, put into operation in short periods of time to carry out retraining of workers according to the needs of the growing industry.

Deputy PM Bytyqi stressed that dialogue with representatives of the chambers of commerce is important in opening topics that are essential for society. 

"We must jointly achieve a better position of domestic companies in the processes of digitalization, within the public-private dialogue," said Bytyqi. 

President of the MASIT Management Board, Ilija Gospodinov, pointed out that the established communication through the Commission for Public-Private Dialogue has led to high value for all stakeholders in the process to overcome the difficulties and challenges faced by companies from the ICT industry.

"We are getting close to finding the right way that will give results. Through a higher level of formal communication and operational steps we will reach a better dialogue and interaction between the chambers and the Government," Gospodinov said, highlighting the need to facilitate and improve the administrative procedures in terms of hiring labor in the ICT industry.
