Bulgarian Orthodox Church enters in canonical communion with Macedonian Orthodox Church

Sofia, 21 June 2022 (MIA) – The Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church has decided on the canonical status and lifting the schism while entering into canonical communion with the Orthodox Church of North Macedonia, the Bulgarian Patriarchate said on Tuesday.
“The Holy Synod discussed the letters of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Serbian Patriarch Porfirij regarding the canonical status of the Orthodox Church of North Macedonia and decided by a vote that the Bulgarian Orthodox Church-Bulgarian Patriarchate welcomes the decisions on lifting the schism and entering into canonical communion with the Orthodox Church of North Macedonia. The issue regarding the name of the Orthodox Church of North Macedonia is yet to be discussed,” reads the press release.
