Bulgarian officials offer condolences and support after deadly fire 

Sofia, 16 March 2025 (MIA) - Bulgaria shares the pain of the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia over the fire in Kochani in which many people died and were injured, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev wrote in a post on X.

In the post, Radev said he extended his condolences to the families in a phone call with President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.

“I am in contact with Prime Minister Zhelyazkov and Bulgaria is ready to provide medical assistance,” Radev said.

In a post on his official Facebook profile Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said Bulgaria has offered to assist in treating the injured. The Bulgarian PM said he had ordered full readiness for admission of patients in clinical facilities in Sofia and Varna.

"The fire at a nightclub in Kochani is a huge human tragedy. I offer my condolences to the relatives of the victims and my wishes for the recovery of the injured,” Zhelyazkov wrote.

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev phoned his counterpart, Foreign Minister Timcho Mucunski, extending condolences to the people and families of the victims, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

Other Bulgarian politicians and party leaders also offered their condolences over the devastating fire that claimed 51 lives.
