Bulgarian investigation into tragic Macedonian bus crash nearing end
Skopje, 19 January 2022 (BTA/MIA) — All evidence for the tragic Macedonian bus crash on Bulgaria’s Struma highway has been collected and the investigation is nearing completion, Bulgarian General Prosecutor Siyka Mileva’s spokesperson told BTA, adding that a considerable amount of evidence was needed to determine the objective truth.
The accident happened in late November, when a bus with North Macedonia license plates caught on fire and more than 40 people, including children, died. The tourists were returning from Turkey to North Macedonia.
Mileva said that what remained to be done was to ask Skopje for legal help in notifying the victims’ relatives. According to the Bulgarian legal system, they have the right to start a civil suit and get access to the pre-investigation process materials. mr/
