Skopje, 16 March 2025 (MIA) — Bulgaria is providing medical treatment for 14 people severely injured in the Kochani nightclub fire. Of them, eight burn patients have been admitted to Sofia's Pirogov Medical Center, according to the hospital's deputy director Nikolai Gabrovski.
"Their condition is serious, but we will do all we can to diagnose and treat them," Gabrovski told reporters Sunday.
Three patients will be transported to the Plovdiv St. George University Hospital and another three will be admitted to the Varna Military Hospital.
Gabrovski said more information about their condition and the degree of their burns would be available Monday.
At a press conference earlier Sunday, Health Minister Arben Taravari said 47 patients with burns were being transported to hospitals abroad, including the 14 people taken to Bulgaria.
Three patients with burns have been taken to Thessaloniki, Greece; two to Nish, Serbia; and three to Istanbul, Turkey.
Later Sunday night, 25 burn patients will be flown out of the country for treatment: six to Turkey, four to Croatia, and 15 to Serbia, Taravari said. mr/
