Bozhinovska, Pyatt meet on sidelines of Regional Conference on Clean and Secure Energy in Istanbul

Skopje, 10 October 2024 (MIA) - Gas interconnectors with Greece and Serbia as key strategic projects to ensure a stable energy future for the country and the region were in the focus of a meeting between Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, and U.S. Assistant Secretary for Energy Resources, Geoffrey Pyatt, in Istanbul on Thursday.
During the meeting on the sidelines of the Regional Conference on Clean and Secure Energy held in Istanbul, organized by the Atlantic Council, the interlocutors pointed out that these projects are of essential importance for the diversification of energy sources and increasing the country's energy independence.
"Gas interconnectors with neighbours are of huge importance for our energy strategy. They will not only increase our security of supply, but improve our competitiveness in the market," Bozhinovska said.
Interlocutors also discussed the strategic cooperation with the United States in the field of energy, with the Minister stressing the importance of U.S. support in the development of projects for renewable energy sources and technology for energy efficiency, as well as the importance of sharing experience with the United States in the fight against corruption in the field of energy.
"Our cooperation with the United States is of crucial importance for the implementation of innovations in the energy sector. Together we can create sustainable solutions that will contribute to the development of the region," Bozhinovska added.
Minister Bozhinovska and U.S. Assistant Secretary Pyatt also discussed future cooperation and regional initiatives, highlighting the need to continue dialogue and partnership between the countries in the field of energy.
