Bozhinovska: Green transition not only desired, but necessary for entire region

Skopje, 10 September 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Energy, Mining and Minerals Sanja Bozhinovska participated in the 9th Central and Eastern European Energy Security Conference in Washington organized by the Global Energy Center of the Atlantic Council, the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Minerals said in a press release Tuesday.

At the conference, alongside American and European energy representatives, Bozhinovska provided her assessment of significant topics in the sector and on Europe’s energy security.

In her address, Bozhinovska highlighted that the Ministry is actively working to strengthen partnerships in the international institutions cooperating with the country in the field of energy, such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank. Additionally, she noted the importance of the exchange of knowledge and good practices from the neighborhood and the broader region.

According to the press release, the Minister also noted that the green transition isn’t only desired but necessary for Macedonia and the entire region, and that it represents a joint initiative focused on ensuring a better future for the entire region.

The event, the Ministry said, represents an opportunity to present the energy priorities of the country on the global scene and get involved in discussions on energy policies, security and supply and the recovery of the energy sector during an economic crisis.

“At a time when the region continues to navigate complex geopolitical tensions and the ongoing energy transition, this conference provides a platform for Macedonia to further strengthen partnerships in the creation of Europe’s energy future,” the Ministry said.
