Boris Kondarko named State Election Commission president

Skopje, 2 October 2024 (MIA) – Parliament at a session Wednesday passed a decision on aligning the composition of the State Election Commission (SEC) after the formation of the new government, which is in line with the electoral legislation. It, amongst other things, foresees that the SEC president should be an opposition official.

The new president of the State Election Commission is Boris Kondarko. The current member was proposed by SDSM. The Commission’s vice president is Abdush Demiri, proposed by Besa. VMRO-DPMNE’s Aleksandar Dashtevski, which served as president, and DUI’s Ditmire Shehu remain members of SEC. Other members of the current composition includes Oliver Ristevski of SDSM.

Parliament passed a decision to issue a call for the election of two SEC members to replace Boban Stojanovski of VMRO-DPMNE after he was elected as secretary general of the legislative house, and Radica Risteska of SDSM, who is about to retire.
