Bookie - First AI-based digital platform for Macedonian speech transcription

Skopje, 9 October 2024 (MIA) - University Ss.Cyril and Methodius-Skopje officially put into use Wednesday the new AI-based digital platform Bookie for Macedonian speech transcription, which ensures advanced use of the official language when creating digital texts.

The platform enables transfer of oral Macedonian into a written text, including punctuation, small and capital letters. The model for standard Macedonian language is operational and the one that would detect Macedonian dialects is in the pipeline.

Bookie can be used by all those working on text transcription (interviews, lectures, notes, reminders), persons with disability, transcription and annotation of Macedonian cultural heritage, archives, TV recordings etc.

The model is created by Dejan Porjazovski, expert in AI speech recognition technology from the Aalto University in Finland, as part of the activities of the Center for Advanced Interdisciplinary Research within the Skopje University, in cooperation with Nikola Stikov, professor of biomedical engineering at the Polytechnic School within the University of Montreal.
