Skopje, 28 April 2024 (MIA) – Our homeland has been established and preserved thanks to the courage, resilience, and sacrifice of our heroic defenders, Additional Deputy Interior Minister Mitko Bojmacaliev said Sunday at the event in Bitola organized by the "Association of Families of Fallen Members of the Armed Forces of Macedonia - Heroes of Macedonia 2001-2015" commemorating the fallen defenders in Vejce and Shipkovica in 2001.

"We owe them and pay tribute to them for the peace we have today," he said. They changed history and left a shining example for future generations.

"Their names remain eternally engraved in the collective memory of the Macedonian people. Their bright spirit, dedication, and professionalism, their heroic deeds, have left a lasting mark on our lives, for which today, and always we speak of with pride and reverence. As the son of a retired military member who participated in these events in 2001, now as a representative of the Ministry of Interior, allow me to pay them another tribute and tell their families that they will never be forgotten, and Macedonia will be eternal," Bojmacaliev underlined.
