Skopje, 18 May 2023 (MIA) – Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski in a media statement Thursday said the second portion of the advance payment to Bechtel-Enka for the construction of corridors VIII and X-d hasn’t been paid yet.

“As we said, everything will be transparent, and we will inform the public once we transfer the funds to the Public Enterprise for State Roads and then to the company,” said Bochvarski.

Asked when Bechtel-Enka are expected to deliver a plan for the construction. Bochvarski said that mechanical assessments are currently underway, without which, he said, we would have a bad plan. 

“The company began with some of the mechanical assessments, which are exceptionally important for the planning process. Without them, we would have a bad plan, which would then be badly reflected on the construction of the motorway sections. The planning process will begin immediately after the assessments. Construction will begin on state-owned property immediately after the plan is approved. All plans will be approved by the Public Enterprise for State Roads and the whole process will be controlled by the state,” stressed Bochvarski.
