Skopje, 22 November 2023 (MIA) - President of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) Marko Bislimoski said Wednesday that the new decision on the price of electricity for households and small consumers is to be announced by the universal supplier - EVN Home, after the ERC previously checks whether the price is properly calculated. 

"With the new decision in December, the Energy Regulatory Commission will start applying the EU practice according to which the obligation of the regulator is to define the tariffs for transmission and distribution, while the final price will be announced by the universal supplier - EVN Home," Bislimoski told MIA.

He pointed out that ERC will check whether the price is properly calculated and if corrections are needed. But, he added, the formula is clear for all energy companies.

No regulatory body, according to Bislimoski, tells the final price, except in Serbia, and maybe Kosovo. 

As he stated Tuesday, there will be no change in the range of the four blocks in the electricity tariff system on the regulated market, despite the remarks of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

"Blocks and their range will not be reduced. That is not a solution. Blocks give results. The introduced reform has an effect and there are savings of 16 percent. Even the fact that the winter was warmer plays a role, but still this percentage was reached by household savings and the fact is that consumption has decreased," Bislimoski said in a TV appearance. 

According to him, the reduction of the government subsidies for electricity is a logical step given the more stable and predictable situation with electricity prices on the stock market.
