Bekteshi: No energy restrictions if everything goes according to ESM's plan
Skopje, 16 August 2022 (MIA) – There will be no energy restrictions if everything goes according to the electricity producing company ESM’s plan, stated Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi on Tuesday. According to Bekteshi, talks are ongoing with the energy ministries of Serbia and Bulgaria, so that there are no interruptions in cross-border capacities or other issues with supply. At Tuesday's press conference, the Minister, after announcing the measures to save up to 15 percent of electricity, said that in order to reduce the burden on ESM and to reduce the bills, everyone should contribute to the rational use of electricity. “We should all contribute to saving electricity. The initial example should come from the institutions, and then this example should be followed by the businesses and the households. If everything goes according to ESM’s plan, we do not expect any restrictions. Except, of course, in the case of certain accidents. We are also talking with the heads of the ministries in Serbia and Bulgaria to make sure that there are no interruptions in the cross-border capacities like in 2009, so that there are no issues when it comes to supplying the consumers on the free market, which is done by the larger companies who trade with the neighboring countries through the interconnectors,” said Bekteshi. Earlier at the press conference in the Government, the Director General of Power Plants of Macedonia (ESM), Vasko Kovachevski said that the company is working at maximum capacity and the electricity needs of EVN Home are met exclusively by domestic production. “ESM is not buying electricity, only coal and mazut for increased energy production,” underlined Kovachevski. ad/ba/
