Skopje, 31 July 2022 (MIA) – This year’s Republic Day-August 2 will be observed under slogan “Ilinden – Our Force for the Future”. In this regard, delegations from the Government, the Parliament and the President’s Office will hold a number of festivities, the Government said on Sunday. As always, the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia are celebrating the national holiday with pride, dignity and unity, said the Government. The 119th anniversary from the Iliden Uprising and the Krushevo Republic, and 78 years from the first session of the Anti-Fascist Assembly of the National Liberation of Macedonia (ASNOM) that confirmed the country’s statehood will begin with the traditional event “Ten Days Krushevo Republic” in Krushevo on August 1, promoting the culture, tradition and history of the town, attended by Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski. Republic Day observances in Skopje will be headed by President Stevo Pendarovski, including flower-laying ceremonies at the graves of late Presidents Kiro Gligorov and Boris Trajkovski, General Mihajlo Apostolski, the monuments of the fallen WWII fighters, ASNOM , Nikola Karev and Metodija Andonov Chento. President Pendarovski will also head the state-church delegation to the visit of monastery St.Prohor Pchinski, where the ASNOM session had taken place in 1944. Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi will host the event at the ASNOM Memorial Centre in Pelince. PM Kovachevski will head the Government delegation at the observances in Krushevo, laying flowers at the grave of the Krushevo Republic President Nikola Karev, the monument of the fallen fighters at Sliva, and the Mechkin Kamen monument, where the central event will take place. In addition, Ilinden observances will also take place in the village of Smilevo, organized by Demir Hisar municipality.
