Attackers of Macedonian club in Blagoevgrad work in a municipal utility enterprise

Sofia, 8 February 2023 (MIA) – The two men detained by the Bulgarian police for vandalizing the Macedonian culture club “Nikola Vapcarov” in Blagoevgrad on Saturday evening, are employed in a municipal utility enterprise, while the two women detained alongside them are their spouses, reports 24chasa.bg.

In a statement for the news portal, the Mayor of Blagoevgrad, Ilko Stoyanov, said the Court is in charge of sanctioning the perpetrators of the act, while he, as an employer, can take measures against the two persons employed in the municipal enterprise only in accordance with the Labor Code.

“If the charges are proven, I will apply the principle of reciprocity of sanctions. Which means I will sanction those employed in the Municipality of Blagoevgrad, in the same way in which the customs offices, the border police and other officials in North Macedonia, who caused mental and physical violence against many Bulgarians, are sanctioned,” said Stoyanov.

He stressed that he will fire the two persons employed in the municipal enterprise, as soon as “the employees in North Macedonia who tortured Bulgarian citizens are fired.”

The Bulgarian media reported that the Blagoevgrad police detained four people on Tuesday, two men and two women, over the vandalism on the Macedonian culture club “Nikola Vapcarov”.

According to the media, the four, all aged about 40, have admitted the act for which they are charged.
