At least 10 killed, 50 missing in Indonesian landslide

Jakarta, 6 March 2023 (dpa/MIA) - At least 10 people were killed and 50 still missing after a landslide on Indonesia's Natuna islands on Monday, police said.

The landslide in the Serasan district was triggered by heavy rain, said local police spokesman Harry Goldenhardt.

Bad weather and difficult access to the area were hampering the search, said Junainah, the head of the local government's emergency response.

"The weather is changing rapidly, the winds are strong and the waves are high," she said. "The location is on another islet far from the centre of government."
