Kyiv, 28 August 2025 (dpa/MIA) – At least 10 people were killed and dozens injured in Ukraine's capital Kyiv after renewed Russian missile and drone strikes, the Kyiv Independent reported on Thursday, citing authorities. The European Union's delegation building was also damaged during the overnight Russian airstrikes.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha accused Russia on the platform X on Thursday of deliberately targeting diplomats. He said this was a violation of the Vienna Convention and called for an international condemnation of the attack.

"We express solidarity with our EU colleagues and are ready to provide assistance," said Sybiha, who also published photos of damage in office spaces.

"I strongly condemn these brutal attacks, a clear sign that Russia rejects peace & chooses terror," EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos posted on the platform X.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, at least eight people were killed in the Russian airstrikes in Kyiv, and dozens were injured. Earlier, Zelensky posted on X that among the dead was a child.

The Kyiv Independent newspaper reported the death toll was at least 10. The newspaper said a 14-year-old had been killed and that so far 48 were reported injured, 30 of whom are in hospital.

The Russian military used not only drones but also ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and Kinzhal (Dagger) hypersonic missiles.

Ukraine, which is striving to join the EU, has been defending itself against a full-scale Russian invasion for more than three and a half years.
