Army signs job contracts with 150 professional soldiers

Skopje, 29 December 2023 (MIA) - The Army of North Macedonia presented Friday job contracts to 150 professional soldiers, who have been selected out of 1,144 applicants.

"Macedonia needs courageous, trained and committed women and men who will always be there when most needed, defending the national interests and protecting the NATO allies," said Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska at the event.

She said 2023 was full of success for the Army members, who took part in exercises, peacekeeping missions and rescue operations.

"Thanks to the commitment, professionalism, love for the homeland and personal sacrifice, today's Army is a modern force, which members do not look for excuses but act without hesitation," said Petrovska.

The Minister said it is a great honor for the soldiers to wear the army uniform, but the task ahead is even greater.

"It is not easy to be a soldier, an officer or a non-commissioned officer, and that is why we pick only the best. The path you are embarking on today is not easy, but is noble. Prepare yourselves for challenges, temptations, sacrifice, but never give up on your only goal - to serve the Republic of North Macedonia," said Petrovska.

Do not look for shortcuts or shades on the road to success, she added, while presenting the contracts alongside the Deputy Defense Minister, State Secretary and Army commanders.
