Archbishop Stefan visits Rome and Vatican, to meet Pope Francis on Monday
- On the occasion of the 1155th anniversary of the death of Slavic enlightener Saint Cyril, Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia, HH Stefan kicked off his visit to Rome. On Tuesday, he will lead a prayer service at the grave of Saint Cyril in the Rome-based San Clemente basilica.
Skopje, 26 February 2024 (MIA) – On the occasion of the 1155th anniversary of the death of Slavic enlightener Saint Cyril, Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia, HH Stefan kicked off his visit to Rome. On Tuesday, he will lead a prayer service at the grave of Saint Cyril in the Rome-based San Clemente basilica.
HH Stefan, as announced by his office, is accompanied by Metropolitan of Europe, Pimen, Director of the Committee on Relations with Religious Communities and Groups, Darjan Sotirovski, Professor at the Saint Clement of Ohrid Faculty of Orthodox Theology and former Macedonian Ambassador to the Vatican, Prof. Gjoko Gjorgjevski, as well as clergy from the Diocese of Skopje. Metropolitan Josif, Diocese of Tetovo and Gostivar will also participate in the prayer service.
As part of his visit, HH Stefan is scheduled to meet with His Holiness Pope Francis, on Monday.
As outlined in a press release, Macedonian Ambassador to the Vatican, Marija Efremova, will also attend the meeting.
