April industrial production down 3.8 percent: statistics

Skopje, 31 May 2022 (MIA) - Industrial production in April dropped by 3.8 percent compared to the same month in 2021, while recording a rise of 1.5 percent in January-April in comparison to the same period last year, the State Statistical Office said on Tuesday.
Industrial production in section Mining and quarrying decreased by 2.1%, in section Manufacturing it decreased by 6.9%, while in section Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply it increased by 28.8%.
The decrease in section Manufacturing is mostly due to decreased production in the divisions Manufacture of food products, Manufacture of beverages, Manufacture of tobacco products, Manufacture of textiles, Manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, Manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, Manufacture of electrical equipment and Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c..
Industrial production by Main Industrial Groupings was lower in Intermediate goods, except energy by 8.0%, Capital goods by 5.2% and in Non-durable consumer goods by 7.4%, but higher in Energy by 24.1% and Durable consumer goods by 10.0%.
