April consumer prices up 2.6%, retail prices 2.7%: statistics

Skopje, 7 May 2025 (MIA) - The Consumer Price Index in April 2025, compared to April 2024, increased by 2.6%, while the Retail Price Index increased by 2.7%, said the State Statistical Office on Wednesday.  

Inflation measured through the Consumer Price Index in April 2025, compared to March 2025, was 0.6%. 

The increase of inflation in April 2025, compared to March 2025, is the result of the increase in the consumer prices in the following groups: Transport by 5.1%, Clothing and footwear by 1.5%, Recreation and culture by 1.4%, Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 0.5%, Health by 0.4% and Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.3%.         

In April 2025, compared to March 2025, a decrease in Consumer Price Index was registered in the following groups: Miscellaneous goods and services by 0.7% and Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics by 0.1%.                  

The Consumer Price Index in the groups: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, Restaurants and hotels, Communications and Education remained at the same level as in the previous month.                        

The Retail Price Index in April 2025 compared to March 2025 increased by 1.6%.
