Appellate Court affirms first-instance ruling in ‘Racket’ case
Skopje, 21 July 2021 (MIA) – The Skopje-based Appellate Court said Wednesday it has rejected the appeals of “Racket” defendants Bojan Jovanovski and Katica Janeva and affirmed the first-instance ruling. Last year, the Criminal Court in Skopje sentenced Jovanovski aka Boki 13 to nine years in prison for taking bribes and money laundering, and former special prosecutor Katica Janeva to seven years in prison for abuse of office. Jovanovski and Janeva were charged with extorting money from businessman Orce Kamchev, who is indicted in the ‘Empire’ case, to be released from detention in return. During the first hearing in the case, third defendant Zoran Milevski-Kicheec pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to three years in jail. Defendants Jovanovski and Janeva pleaded not guilty.
