Skopje, 19 August 2024 (MIA) — Sasho Dimoski's "Museum of Oblivion" is the winner of the 2024 Ante's Quill award, given to the best unpublished poetry collection submitted to the annual poetry contest held by the Ante Popovski foundation.
Dimoski's manuscript will be published under a special imprint dedicated the contest winners, organizers said.
The winning entry was chosen by a panel of judges consisting of Vesna Mojsova Chepishevska, Atina Cvetanoska and Zhorzh Popovski.
"Museum of Oblivion" had been shortlisted along "I Think I Heard a Child Somewhere" by Toni Popov, "Collected Remnants of the World" by Pepi Stamkov, "Sivka: Geometry of Pain" by Irena Babamova Stojcheva, "A Caesarean Section of the Sky" by Daniela Andonovska Trajkovska, "Anatomy of Hidden Pain" by Sushtina, and "Where Shadows Are Born" by Agron Useini.
Of the shortlisted manuscripts, Popov's, Stamkov's and Babamova Stojcheva's will be given Ante's Gold Coin award, organizers said.
Five debut poetry collections made the shortlist for Ante's Clock award, given to talented young poets writing in Macedonian as an incentive for them to continue, organizers said.
This year, two collections won the prize: Nino Naumovski's "Indigo Tears" and Stefan Spasovski's "Charcoal Fig Sap."
The awards are given by the Ante Popovski Association to promote poetry in Macedonian in honor of renowned Macedonian poet Ante Popovski. mr/
