Jafar Panahi’s ‘It Was Just an Accident’ to open 24th CINEDAYS

Jafar Panahi’s ‘It Was Just an Accident’ to open 24th CINEDAYS

Skopje, 3 December 2025 (MIA) - Screenings of Jafar Panahi’s Cannes Palme d'Or winner “It Was Just an Accident” and Slobodanka Radun’s “One Man Avalanche” are set to open the 24th CINEDAYS Festival of European Film on Wednesday evening at Skopje’s Youth Cultural Center (MKC).

More than 60 films that marked the current European film year will be screened at this year’s CINEDAYS which will run until December 10 under the slogan “See You on the Other Side”. The festival will also honor the work of David Lynch.

“This year we are not taking the audience on a film journey but leading them through a passage. Typical of David Lynch, to whom we dedicate this edition, it is surreal, dreamy, beautiful, and full of contrasts. That passage, despite everything, is rich with the newest and most awarded films. We are aware that in a country like Macedonia, with a small production impact, film has proven to be the greatest ambassador, and in order for such creatives to thrive, as well as for the refined audience, we are obliged to give them the best of what we know how to do – and that is a festival above all,” said Margarita Arsova, the program coordinator of CINEDAYS.

At the 24th edition of CINEDAYS the audience will have a chance to see the latest films by Jim Jarmusch, Paolo Sorrentino, Park Chan-wook, the Dardenne brothers, and others. Films awarded at this year’s MakeDox will also be screened at the festival.

The selector of the program for the 24th CINEDAYS is Bernd Buder, and the screenings are structured into several sections: Official Selection, Gala Program, MK in EU, MK Shorts, Music Documentaries, SEE Program, David Lynch Selection, and MakeDox.

As part of the festival’s CineMusic program, on December 4 and 5, a selection of young European bands, supported by the Liveurope program, will perform at MKC. Admission to the concerts is free.

Tickets for this year’s edition of CINEDAYS will be priced at Mden 200 for all screenings and can be purchased online via bileti.mkc.mk as well as at the entrance of MKC.

The festival is supported by the Film Agency of North Macedonia, the City of Skopje, the EU Delegation through the program for supporting European film festivals, as well as the Liveurope network.
