Dojran, 9 July 2025 (MIA) - Aerial firefighting support is needed due to the alarming situation with the fire in the village of Nikolikj, Mayor of Dojran, Ango Angov, posted on Facebook.

Firefighters have been battling the blazes at this village near Dojran for three days now, and according to the latest information from the Crisis Management Center (CMC), grassland and low forest is burning.

Two teams of firefighters from the Strumica Fire Fighting Brigade, on the orders of Mayor Kostadin Kostadinov, have been sent to help their colleagues in Kriva Palanka and the village of Nikolikj, Dojran, in tackling the blazes.

The Strumica Fire Fighting Brigade said earlier that the forest fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon on the slopes of Belasica mountain, above the village of Mokrino, was prevented from spreading at the last minute. Strumica firefighters, assisted by the National Forests public enterprise and local residents, extinguished the fire.
