Skopje, 19 August 2025 (MIA) - The head of the Protection and Rescue Directorate, Stojanche Angelov, said on Tuesday afternoon that the situation with the fire in Jasen is worsening and that the flames had reached the ridge at one point, but were stopped thanks to a swift intervention.

“The situation with the Jasen wildfire is worsening again. The flames started spreading upwards, toward the ridge and approached the green path which serves as our defensive line to prevent it from spreading to the other side. Employees of the Jasen public enterprise are on site, supported by firefighters from Makedonski Brod, as well as drivers and Pinzgauers from the Protection and Rescue Directorate,” Angelov said. 

As of 6 p.m. a total of eight wildfires have been registered in the country, of which two are still active, while six have been extinguished, according to the Crisis Management Center.

The other currently active wildfire beside Jasen is in the village of Kaldarec, on Kitka mountain.
