Skopje, 14 September 2025 (MIA) - Protection and Rescue Directorate (PRD) Director Stojanche Angelov expects the smoke from the Trubarevo fire to diminish or fully disappear by the end of the day.

"Trucks are carrying sand to the site in order to cover the fire. The machinery is sufficient because more vehicles would make transport difficult due to the narrow streets," Angelov told a press conference on Sunday.

According to him, extinguishing an electronic waste fire required the use of all resources, including firefighting vehicles, army and police helicopters and a firefighting aircraft, which prevented the fire from spreading to other nearby facilities that stored plastic waste.

Angelov said the air pollution is higher as one gets closer to the site, noting that institutions would provide accurate measurements during the day.
