Angelov: Czech helicopter and Slovenian firefighters to focus on Goten wildfire, France and Austria offer help

Skopje, 29 July 2025 (MIA) - Fifteen wildfires were registered nationwide on Tuesday, four of which are active, four are under control while seven have been extinguished. A Czech helicopter and Slovenian firefighters will focus on the large fire at Goten mountain in the municipalities of Berovo and Radovish, said Protection and Rescue Directorate (PRD) director Stojanche Angelov.

"A Czech helicopter 'Black Hawk' will land at the Skopje airport later this afternoon, whereas 62 firefighters and 18 vehicles from Slovenia will arrive in Berovo late this evening. They will all focus on the large fire at the Goten mountain, alongside national forces, since the situation with the other wildfires has calmed down. Austria and France have also offered help through 80 and 50 firefighters respectively," Angelov told a press conference.

He said that another specific fire is the one in the municipalities of Prilep and Kavadarci, which is being put out by a firefighting aircraft and firefighting vehicles.

"The other active wildfire are located in the municipalities of Makedonski Brod of Prilep," added Angelov.
