Skopje, 30 July 2024 (MIA) – We’re closely following the process. The Ministry is not a body tasked with investigating, but we will make sure no one is accused in the country without any evidence provided, Minister for Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski said Tuesday in relation to the allegations from Venezuela that hackers from North Macedonia conduced a cyber-attack against the election data transfer system in the South American country.
Asked for a comment in relation to the allegations by Venezuela’s chief prosecutor that North Macedonia nationals conducted the cyber attack in favor of the opposition and against President Nicolas Maduro, Andonovski said: “It is a socialist regime that has been disseminating information lacking evidence and accusing countries that have no responsibility in these cases.”
“I hope that apart from the statements we’ve noted and we’ve been following, the authorities in this country will also present evidence backing the alleged interference of our citizens or institutions. We’re closely following the process. The Ministry is not a body tasked with investigating, but we will make sure no one is accused in the country without any evidence provided and no one is dragged into the fight of an authoritative regime,” Andonovski told reporters after a meeting with the working group tasked with the preparation of a cyber strategy.
